Colporter has built a solid music foundation that includes seven-string guitar and five-string bass, mystically paired with what a Colporter fan dubbed as “vocals that sound like Tori Amos’ evil twin.” Though a far stretch from pop to Colporter, the comparison to Amos stems from singer Sarah Paolini’s ability to wail into the rafters and reach audiences on an emotional level. Influences heard in the music are Alice In Chains, Sevendust, and Godsmack. The band sees itself as a perfect fit for the Ozzfest crowd, and is determined to see female artists making a serious significant mark in the hard rock and metal genres in the near future. “There is Evanescence, and then there is Kitty…we are filling the void in between,” says Sarah, who also sets herself apart from the norm by dominating on the five-string bass. The other half of what creates the act’s signature sound is the guitar execution of David Paolini, who was recently endorsed by music merchandisers Halo Guitars, Coffin Case, Basson Guitar Cabinets and Randall Amplifiers.
