Deeper Blues is on a mission to take Blues back to its origins, to play Blues the way it was meant to be felt. Only two years old, the band is already gaining international attention for its deeply emotional stories and explosive live shows. Their first CD, Dig the Hole, has been called the best new Blues in the past twenty years.
Jones partnered with bassist, vocalist and songwriter Lane Baldwin in the summer of 2006. Drummer James Jones (Gary's son) settled into the drum throne late in 2007. |
| Together, they blend traditonal Blues with a vast array of influences gained in almost 100 years of combined experience. Whether it's a porch shout-out, a Chicago shuffle or an over-the-top heavy rock riff, Gary needs an amp (well, two, actually) that delivers the tone he hears inside. And when it comes to gut-wrenching, heart-breaking slow Blues, having the perfect tone is critical to expressing the pain. "When I play, I need all the nuances and emotion to come through. I need people to hear my pain, so they really understand what we're saying to them."
To capture his unique sound, Gary uses a pair of Randall MTS heads, each with different modules. Combining the two gives him a "sound so thick you need a buzz-saw to cut it. It's everything I demand in an amplifier."
